Starting Issue

I have a 1983 911 Targa. It will fire up when turning the ignition key to start but then shuts off when you the key goes to the run position. I have replace the ignition swicth and this did not cure. Any suggestions?

Try replacing the fuel pump relay, or remove the relay and jump socket #30 and 87a and see if the pump runs with the ignition switch "on." If you do the jump and the pump runs, replace the relay.

fuel pump relay

Can you tell me where the fuel pump relay switch is located on a 1983 911 Targa?
I am told this could be the cause of my starting issues. Obvious novas.

The fuel pump relay is the red round relay.
