Battery and fuse corrosion....fix

Suffered both this weekend. Did a babysit/supervision on a niece in Zooport, CA. It rained and I had to park the 911 outside.

I have an aged but functional yellow top Optima. It's been thru the wars and the negative terminal isn't up to spec. When I hook up the trickle charger the permanent lead pulls the clamp off.

So, off to Autozone I go for a lead sleeve. Back out the drive....engine dies. Fuch!!!!

The DME clicks so it's gotta be the 12v supply.....spin the fuses...bingo. Fires up...off to AZ. The clamp is toast...marine style, buy one and a lead sleeve, sleeve is too big for the clamp.....reminds me of...me.

Ripped it in half, soft lead molded inside, clamped her down.....we be cool. Took a ride into the canyons. A GOOD day.

Tonight I clean fuse connection(s) and replace groody fuses.

There was an ad here somewhere where a guy was hawking an American style blade fuse block conversion that he built himself and was selling to Porsche owners. Any idea where that link is because evey time I look at that chintzy 27 year old German fuse block I worry about when it's going to let me down in the dark...

There are over 25 Fred Cooks and none appear to have anything to do w/ cars. I shoulda bought it when i saw the ad but I can't believe I'm the only one who is wary of the German fuse block...

Joe Bob,

I remember your post asking about a swap or trade for a fuse panel. I was under the impression that I had answered that I was not interested at the time. If I left you hanging, I apologize! Here is a picture of one of my fuse panels. I also do an extended panel with the headlight relay kit installed. I think that I have built about 50 panels so far! I also am now building a small 4 fuse panel for the engine compartment.
