Just Installed New Front Torsion Bars - got a quick question

I just replaced my front torsion bars with 22mm. I also replaced all the bushings.

During the project, one of the old torsion bars would not budge and I had to drill a hole in the front cover and attempt to tap out with a punch. Still wouldn't budge. I tried heating but no success. After a while, I decided to tap the torsion bar from the rear to possibly loosen and it moved and popped the end cap out. I then tapped the bar from the front side and got it out. Fortunately, I had a spare set of end caps from my 914 parts pile.

So, after cleaning everything, I greased the ends and put back together. When I started to install the side that had the stuck bar, the new bar slipped out from the front. I got it back in but now I'm wondering what is holding that bar from slipping out again? The rear adjusting cap is on tight and I've driven the car at least 200 miles but this still concerns me that the bar could potentially move forward and slip out from the rear cap.

Any advice?

The cap you knocked out prevents the torsion bar from slipping out the front. You need to secure that cap. A couple tack welds will do it.

Thank you! I will get to it.

I did the same thing you did. Mine hasn't gone anywhere in three years of driving. When you put the car back down on its wheels, the bar got slightly twisted...it isn't going to go anywhere. Just be sure the end is sealed against water entering.

Does anyone know where these end caps are available? Just redid my front suspension and had to destroy the caps.
I searched the store at Pelican and can't find them. Help?

Used parts bin.....place a WTB ad in the classifieds or contact the local boneyard.
