What is the difference between a 3.2 and 3.0 case?

The finned sump cover got me thinking . . .
The PO of my 78SC had a complete engine rebuild. I have no paperwork. I assumed the engine is still a 3.0 since it still has the CIS system. However, the case is from a 3.2 out of an 85. Are their any differences between these cases? Are there any visible markings on the cylinders to designate whether they are 3.0 or 3.2 cylinders?

I'm no expert but there is no sump cover on an 85 3.2.

basically the same case. late 3.0 and 3.2s had no sump plate which requires the later oil pump with the captive screen be used.
