Blaupunkt Radio question...
Does anyone know which Blaupunkt radio/tape/CD models are period correct on an 1988 Carrera 3.2?
I seem to recall they had a Blaupunkt radio/CD player option then (model Miami?)—but was told yesterday that Blaupunkt CD's players were only offered as options beginning with the 964's. That doesn't sound right to me—but would appreciate your input.

I am the second owner of a 88 Ce which has a Reno Sqr 46.
The original brochure has it listed as the option. And the Blaupunkt Charleston as the standard equipment. |

Thanks.
Anyone know whether Blaupunkt FM/CD was an option in 1988?

I'm not sure about '88, but
1987 911 Targa window sticker: std "Charleston"(SQR26), opt "Reno" (SQR46) 1986 911 Euro delivery program (for US-spec cars): "Monterey" (SQR23) extra-cost option in coupe, targa & cab., std in turbo. The "Reno" had a back-panel connector for an external amp, but no CD changer connection. The parts catalog applicable to the G50 Carrera 3.2's shows a CD changer, but with a "89" notation (CD-10, 928-645-018-00). This is far from definitive, however, as the specific radio models were often dealer-installed options. Interestingly, the same parts catalog lists the Blaupunkt "Berlin" (IQR-88) for model year '88, and this head unit did have a CD changer connection. Last edited by dw1; 04-12-2009 at 05:49 PM.. |

There was no factory Blaupunkt CD option in 88.
Most US 88s came with the Reno SQR 46, AM/FM/Cassette. |

Some PO of my '88 had installed a "disco" radio (i.e., lots of flashy lights/bars/lines). Even though I hardly ever listen to the radio in my 911 (I prefer to listen to the flat 6) I couldn't stand looking at it. So, I replaced it with a Blaupunkt that I think looks period correct. Not sure if you can still find this model, but I like it in the car.
Sorry, I don't have a photo of it in the car.
