FACET fuel pump test......click noise the same when in normal operation as the test??
I tested a Facet fuel pump as stated iin the directions, and I am wondering if the same "rapid clicking noise" sound in the test (as stated in the directions should occur), is the same sound heard from the pump when in normal operation installed on a car??

Ayup. Noisy sobz.

Perfectly normal. We use em in experimental aircraft and you can hear the clicking even with headsets on.

Thanks...as a follow-up: what deviation of sound (or performance) does one use to diagnose/indicate replacement of a Facet?

Errrr..........When the racket stops, it's daid?:D
I can hear mine up to about 4k rpms....... then the Webers take over. They are about 18 inches from my right ear. A fuel pressure gauge in the line would be helpful for failure mode. |
2 nights ago I was trying to rearrange the tangle of fuel lines and tubes that has gradually grown over the years. I decided to swap out my generic part store fuel pump with a facet pump. It was awful! To make long story short I put generic right back in as I could not take the racket. I will use it as an emergency "get home" pump only.
