Synchro Question

Hi Guys

I've had 2 or 3 cars in my sights for the last couple of weeks. Unfortunately, a couple of the cars had some "deal breaker" issues. I've now come across an '85 coupe that I'm seriously considering. The car has a little over 85,000 miles. The seller mentioned that he does notice that 1st to 2nd shifts get slightly stiffer as the car reaches full operating temperature. There are no issues with grinding, or getting the shifter into either gear. Does this sound like the beginning of a synchro issue, or could it be possible that the engine / trans heat is creating a slight misalignment of the linkage at full operating temperature?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Josh

Sounds like a 2nd gear synchro starting to wear. 2nd is typically the first one to go on the 915 Trans. But for prospective I drove one with a simmilar problem for 40k before it got bad enough to address.
