Shaking my head, but I know what the root cause is.
The root cause is the fact that the climate controls are add-ons to add-ons. The levers between the seats are easy to figure out, and easy to operate. I get heat (and a LOT of it) when I work those guys. It makes for a great ride in 50 degree weather, because I can have the heat on and the window open, and be perfectly comfortable.
Where is all starts to go sideways is when I add in the dash and console switches. I have no fuch-ing idea how all that stuff works together, even after sitting in the garage with the owner's manual open in front of me. In the VWsm Audis and M-B cars I've owned, the climate controls are easy to work, and once you know what the pictograms mean, you can operate the CC levers and switches between brands and cars. But I am completely baffled by which lever does what, and where. I'm pretty sure the left console rotary dial is AC temp, and it turns on with the fan switch that is the right console rotary switch. But other than that, I have no freaking clue what the three dash levers do. After manipulating them and the heater levers and the AC controls, I still have no clue which lever on the dash does what. The fact that stuff was added on after other stuff was added on to the original stuff means it's kind of a weird hodge-podge of controls. But I swear that this is the most complicated system on the whole fuch-ing car! ![]() |

It's real easy. I don't want to type it yet again, since it takes a while. If you want to call me, I can PM you a phone number. Or you can do a search; it's been discussed a zillion times.

The funny thing is, the knobs you have figured out are the add-ons and the the thing you can't get your mind around--the dash levers--are original designs. Maybe this will help. The dash levers are for a separate, fresh air induction through the cowl vent as well as a deflection of the heat flow from the foot wells to the windshield. Top lever--opens and closes the vent to outside air and engages a three-speed blower fan. Far left position=off, far right=fully open and highest fan speed. Middle lever--directs out side air (cool) only to either the windshield or foot well, as shown by arrows. Bottom lever--directs heated air to windshield or foot well (which, of course, you have to turn on with the floor levers.)

By looking at the levers and now knowing that there was another air source, it makes complete sense. Thank you. ![]() |

thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I am on my 4th Porsche over a 40 year period and I agree. It has to be the lamest heater- A/C controls on the planet. Some of the things they do are brillant and other things you wonder what in the world were they smoking.
