87-89 Carrera Rear Fog Light

Has anyone added a rear fog light to their 87-98 Carrera? If so, how did you wire it?

On my 84 Carrera, I mounted the factory rear fog light under the bumper on the left side. I then dug in the inside of the bumper, found the left rear tail light wiring harness, which had the hot lead for the fog light, connected the wire to the rear fog light, and then connected the wire at the fog light switch.

The left tail light wiring harness on my 87 does not have a rear fog light wire. Appartently, the wiring was changed when Porsche incorporated the rear fog light(s) into the new style center reflector.

Thanks

I don't have an answer to your question, but it brings up a question i have: At the dashboard front fog light switch, is there also a loose (hot) wire for use with the rear fog light also? So the rear fog light goes on whenever the front fog light switch is turned on?

Also where at the rear left bumper did you access the wiring for the rear lights?

I was thinking of adding a rear fog light to my '86 Carrera.

thanks
MIK

This might help. On the back of my car, there is a wiring harness that nothing hooks into. It is wrapped up with the wires for the rear lights. Have you checked there?

On my 84, which should be the same as an 85-86, the wiring harness for the left rear tail light housing can be access from the inside of the left wheel well as it comes into the light housing. There should be an extra unconnected, taped-off wire for the rear fog light. The rear of the fog light can be reached via the front trunk once you remove the cardboard sheild that is held on by four screws. Like at the rear, the harness has the rear fog light wire taped off - untape it and plug it in to the fog light switch and you should be all set.
