Gents,
I'm planning on driving my 1979 911 SC to/from the track and possibly doing a Club Race this year. I have two questions: 1) what sway bars would you recommend? (90% track use) 2) where could I find a proper front valance/bumper unit to accommodate my front oil cooler? (The wheels are 15x7&8 BBS, the shocks are new Bilstein Sports, brakes are all new, engine is just rebuilt, car has full cage & strut brace.) Your input is appreciated. Steve Scholze |

Steve:
I'd recommend a pair of Smart Products adjustable swaybars in 20mm and 23mm sizes. I'd also recommend (if you haven't already done this yet) a set of 23mm & 30mm torsion bars, perferably the Sander Engineering ones. You could use a Ruf Yellow-Bird style front bumper that will nicely accomodate a real oil cooler and also provide an excellent reduction in front end lift. A narrow version of the '74 IROC one works great too. Both will permit effective brake cooling. |

Id recommend before you make any changes to the car..get yourself securely belted in..... 5 point harnesses......secure seating....
sway bars and other changes come later... after you are acclimated to the car and its charecteristics... thats the path I followed oh and GT racing makes a spoiler that will accomodate a front mounted oil cooler

Since you'll be driving to/from the track, recommend a second set of wheels with appropriate tires (especially if you're going racin'). Before you make any drastic changes to the existing suspension or whatever, make sure you meet the rules for whichever class you plan to race in.
