I want Fast Blinkers!!!!! Having seen custom beamers and RICE cars, I tend to like fast blinkers. I also think they catch people attention (i.e., safety reasons). What do I replace to make my blinkers blink faster? Source of the part(s) would also be appreciated! Thanks! Windsor Agoura Hills, CA |

You would need to replace the turn signal relay (not the safety flasher relay) with one that cycles under load faster than the bosch unit in the car. Unfortunatly, I know how to do it, but can't refer you to a sourse. You might try putting the safety flasher relay in the turn signal socket if the pins are the same and see if the you get the desired result. It might slow down the turn signal, as I used the reverse situation when I had a boat trailer and had 4 additional lights to blink. Sorry I couldn't be more specific. |

the "blinker" relay gets its blink speed from the resistance of the bulbs, if you ever had a bulb go bad and it flashed fast, that's why. the relays use resistance to determine how fast to blink, less resistance equals faster blinking. marcesqis is on the right track but i think it may be a little more involved, i've got a couple extra blinker relays and am going to open one up to see what i have to do to change the resistor value to get it to speed up, should be able to do it this weekend, i'll post my results when i get done, but i'm sure someone will have an easier remedy by then :) |
