WTB: VDO EGT & A/F Gauges...
G'Day,
I want to know where I can get an EGT & A/F Ratio VDO Gauge. Must be black faced to suit the factory instrument panel. Advice much appreciated...

Well, these guys seem to have plenty!
http://www.egauges.com/vdo_main.asp There will be someone in Aussie who has them - I took my regular gauges to out local VDO service agent and they refurbed them. I noticed they sold a decent range of VDO stuff too. I'm bored, so here is a picture of the gauges: - a 69T tach with 78 SC innards (to make sure it works with CDI) - an 84 Carrera electrical speedo with a '69T needle to work with an SC 915 gearbox (it sorta visually matches (too white and too busy) and I still wish it had the 0-150mph style like the car had before) ![]()

Actually, I've been having a look there and they do, but they aren't that pretty. Personal taste of course, but I thought the plain Autometer ones looked better.
Where are you planning to mount them Merv?

I really should be working, not looking at this stuff, but gauges are fun.
I always wonder how these look in person: http://www.syclone.freeserve.co.uk/spagauges.htm I have a Demon Tweeks catalogue from the UK and they have heaps of gauges, including the very cool SPA Design ones. Normally I prefer analogue over digital (and probably would go for analogue in your case) but you could have a single gauge this way. Cam |

Merv,
VDO's Melbourne HQ is just near my work (Heidelberg West). I'll dig up their number tomorrow at work.

I found black face EGT and A/F meters on Race Central, 800-876-5945
www.racepartsnow.com Not too expensive either. I have not purchased these. Just looking. Not interested in LEDs.

Thanks to all of you for taking time to reply
![]() If I can mount them in an A-Pillar Pod that'd be great, however, I don't like the idea of 'looking' like a ricer boy with gauges sticking out left right and centre. For now, I'll probably mount them on top of the centre console, angled towards the driver, OR hide them in the glove box also angle mounted towards the driver. These gauges aren't something you continually have to monitor. It's really just there so I know what's going on as I tune my boost controller for optimum performance and engine safety ![]()

I've actually decided to go with an electronic A/F monitor produced locally here in Australia, called the Haltuner.
This unit is produced by Haltech, the same mob who develop the Haltech Engine Management Systems. The unit has a 30 LED readout, with 10 colored LED's for each A/F Range (Rich, Stoich & Lean). Each range has a diff color LED for easy identification. It is supposedly very accurate and very quick in response, so you always have an accurate idea of A/F ratios. Came highly recommended by Protomotive. Ideal for tweaking the boost levels on that EBC for optimum performance ![]()
