GTS Nurburgring

I am thinking about putting GTS Nurburgring seats in my SC. I would like to see them and sit in them before I decide on the purchase. Any Pelicans located in proximity to Charlottesville or Richmond Virginia have these seats?

Thanks,
Dan

SC seats..........

I considered putting a set of the Nurburgring seats in my SC coupe, but after looking around and actually getting to sit in one, I decided to buy a set of the Corbeau Baja Ultra SS seats in the wide size. The wide version is about 1.5" wider than the narrow version. They weigh about 17 lbs each and I got the pair of seats including tax and shipping for $575. The Corbeau seats are made in England using a welded, powder coat painted frame and can be ordered with a choice of upholstery. They come with slots for the 5 point racing harness it that is an issue.

Old thread,
but curious as well if anyone has tried the GTS Nurburgring this seat on the track? Love the look of it but hte bolstering isn't as deep as the rallye so wonder if you would slide around like with stock seats? I don't really like that sudden rise in the rallye bolster.

Wonder if these would also look period correct in my 75

I have a set of LeMans in NOVA if that helps... Probably not though.

I run Nurburgring seats with a 5 point harness for track days. They are great for casual track days with the harness. More importantly for me, they are an even better seat for everyday use... my wife wasn't prepared to travel in the car when I had the Sparco race seats.

Thanks John,

So you don't slide around like you would on stock seats?

Nowhere near the movement of original seats! I'm 6' and 215lb so YMMV

Had a pair, great construction and super comfy on long trips. The only thing I can knock is that their side bolsters were rather lacking. On spirited drives, they were about useless, unless I was wearing a harness to keep me plastered to them. Of course wearing a harness on the street is not only illegal in many states (not DOT approved) but extremely dangerous in a side impact. I sold them after 6 months - great looking seats tho. So if you are more of a tourer rather than canyon carver they just might be right for you.

What about the GTS Rally if you need more support?
I've had my eye on those.

I would tend to agree, I put them in my 70 911T because I'm a little too big for a seat that is too heavily bolstered. I wouldn't call them "useless" for fun driving, but if your focus is more on sports than touring, you might want to go up a bit in bolsters.

Here's my thread on the seats. Page 2 has pix of me in the seat. Maybe it will help...

New seats are in!

I bought Doug's car and sold the seats immediately, because they were not supportive enough bolster wise. The bolsters were also not straight up and down, more of an angle, which did not comport with my body type, so it caused me some pain. That being said, they were nicely constructed and they may end up being a great fit for you. It is mandatory for me to try the seat out before purchase, so I agree with the PO and would highly recomend a test fit prior to purchase.

Yeah prob is the only guys that do it on the west coast are down in LA so would have to make my way down there from Van.

Thanks for all the input. RallyE was my original choice but I like the look of the nurburgrings. Might have to bite the bullet and just go the rallye as i do a bit of track driving back home and car will be shipped back to aus when we move back .

Love my Nurburgrings. They're a great long distance touring seat...I've done 2 trips to Monterey in them with straight through drives on the way home and numerous day trips with no ill effects.

I haven't done a track day, but they are supportive on the street with a 5-point harness and a dead pedal. They're a great compromise between a race and a street seat.

I don't think you'll go wrong with either the Nurburgring or the Rallye, it really comes down to your size and type of driving you do the majority of the time. I personally got carried away with track days, before realising the most enjoyment I get is out of touring and road driving. With a harness fitted for track days only, the Nurburgrings will suit 70% of the average track pilot

You have to forgive Rich. He recently was released from an asylum for criminally compulsive liers, fibbers, truth-stretchers, fablers, and untruthers. Just ignore whatever he has to say, since he doesn't know what day of the week it is, or his real first name -> Richard.

Every board has one, so just humor him, but don't egg him on.
