Seems to me that back-dates are rarely in the modern colors, more often re-painted in vintage hues. I've never seen a back-dated Diamond Blue in person or in pixels.

Agree. Most (if not all) are painted in period correct early 70s colors like signal green, gulf blue, or the always favorite....white. Mine was taken even further back to a 356 color, Dolphin Gray.

Are you looking for "diamond blue metalic" as in the 1988 Commemorative Edition 911???

I'm still waffling on whether to backdate mine when I paint in a couple of years or not. If I do, I'll stay with Chiffon as it's not all that different from Light Ivory.

Well, I dared to be a little different - I went with the original Marine Blue on my '74 RS backdate.

Car looks great!

You guys are right, I have never seen a backdated Diamond Blue either, wasn't sure how it would look...

Car is beautiful! I think the yellow euro lenses look great in contrast to the diamond blue paint color...

I have a diamond blue metallic 71. I'll post some pictures tonight. Definitely a cool color.

Awesome! I'd love to see it

Sorry, I know this isn't what you're looking for, but I couldn't resist!

Diamond Blue metallic is more silver than blue; silver with purplish tint. Personally, I think there are other colors that would look better with chrome, although I like it with the black trim.

Sorry it took so long. I was delayed last night. Here ya go. Its a father and son project dating back about 17 years now. It started out as a POS 911T with a 2.2/webers/ and mismatched cams. Car was an absolute nightmare. Its finally sorted out now but I am the classic example of starting with a POS and spending way too much money. After all this time though, I wouldnt consider selling it at any price. You cant put a value on memories.

Hnichols 05-05-2012 01:59 PM

After seeing these pics, I take back what I said about this color not looking great with chrome ...
