First Drive of the Year...

Yeah, yeah I know... It's complicated as to why I haven't been able to bring the 911 out of hibernation until today, But I digress.

150 miles, there-and-back. In-all a pretty great way to kick-off the driving year.

Almost too good to be true...

Anybody else have any excellent driving experiences this weekend?

My '76 911 has been sitting in storage since last November, mainly because I've been fussing over the 964;

I've finally gotten the battery out of the '76 and charged it, and hoping to get her back on the road.

Did you take any precautionary steps before getting yours out of hibernation? My fuel level's low, so I'm thinking to just top her up with some fresh stuff and let her rip...

Cool pic!

The weather here yesterday was only in the low 40s and cloudy. Not exactly inspiring for a drive......I took the 911 anyway

My son and I took a long drive to a few resale toy shops looking for some old Tyco race cars. We did about 100 miles.

Then, Mom asked me if I would take the Redbox movie back after dinner. Sure! So my son and I hopped in the 911 and completed the mission. The closest store is less than 1 minute away but there is another outlet that just happens to be on my route of "fun" roads.

You can guess which one we visited.

I mention the temps because I backdated my heat this year and it really made the car more comfortable in colder temps.

Today is sunny so you can bet I'll be going somewhere in the 911.

Yesterday was my first short drive of the year. Had the lid off despite the cool and cloudy weather. Despite not driving her for six months, the special little techniques for driving my 915 returned with no thought....kinda like the words of a song that you haven't heard for a while. Happy 911 season everyone!

Well... the first thing you do is make sure you have a full tank when you put her to bed. Sorry about the jibe LOL. Fuel these days has a very limited shelf life and so, most people that lay up cars for extended periods, fill their cars to minimize the forming of condensation in the tank. Also, the addition of a fuel storage additive (such as Stab-il) will keep the fuel fresher for longer periods and minimize the formation of varnishes in your fuel system. I personally would get a gerry can full of fresh fuel and add to the tank before starting her and running her over to a gas station and fill up ASAP to dilute the old crap as much as possible. I'm not sure how often you drove the car before putting her down but that fuel is probably at least six months old. Cheers
