question on oil pressure, druck sender.

I bet almost people are familiar with this druck sender now, but does anyone experience it going bad one after another? This is my 4th unit already. Now, I feel cheap on replacing it. I saw on Pellican there is a $44 unit VDO-360015 specified as "Oil Pressure Sender, 150 PSI single sender", instead of the $80 unit 1-606-135-00-M100 genuine Porsche. Has anyone used this cheaper unit and can have comment about it?

I am in the process of converting the single "idiot light" sender at the front of a 2.2 engine to a dual VDO sender similar to the $44 unit you are considering. I just got the part in but probably won't have time to play with it for a few days.

This experiment started here:
oil sensor...temp- pressure sensors and wires

I'll be able to provide some limited feedback about this VDO unit after the install. Walt Fricke might have some additional feedback on the VDO senders compared to the OEM, as his posts on the thread in the Engine Rebuilding forum were quite helpful to me.

Cheers,

Tom

Been through several of them myself. Then the sender wire shorted out with the rear window wiper. Now i get no oil pressure then it's pegged high when i turn on the rear wiper. Will have to cut topen the wirng harness next time the engines out to figure the problem out. Prior to this i have been through 3 senders. It might be the cause or just a symptom not sure yet. Also most likely since the turbo gets so hot along with the exahaust every thing on the back of the engine is pretty much cooked.
