? exhaust port glazing
Bad valve adjustment or real trouble to come? I removed the ssi today to see this. What do you think?

Does it wash off with brake cleaner? I'm wondering oil/fuel vs something else...

The gloss black is in cylinder 1, 3 and 6. DOES wipe off with a rag., there is some black oil film at times were the other cylinders are dry. The valves in the past have been out of adjustment, were to tight and i guess did not close all the way. no other symptoms except light smoke on start up after sitting along time. not very noticeable. Have anybody else seen this? Mabey the CIS is running rich?

If it wipes off with a rag/mild cleaner, it's probably just excessive/unburnt fuel.
If it's a crusty buildup (thick and not easily removed) it's baked on oil deposits and would indicate bad rings/valve guide wear/ valve stem seal leakage/etc. Check your fuel mixture, IMO that's your culprit. No worries.

I have had problems with the cis for years, its a 1974 cis on a 80row 3 liter. still runs better than carbs,

my brothers 911 2.7 had that problem after the rebuilt. I dont know what cause that glazzing. I dont know if the engine do it again because I have not taked the headers again.
