I bet someone here can tell me what this is...
Found it at a thrift shop. Saw miles and figured it was some sort of racing chronometer. Saw Martini and made in Germany and figured it was cool, worth grabbing, and possibly Porsche-related.
The stem doesn't appear to do anything at the moment, although it does screw in and out. When you pull or push it, it brings with it the brass "feet" measurement tape in the back. The center screw in the back turns the hand on the face. Any thoughts? It's not overly heavy, but for the weight, it seems like it should do something more than be completely manual. Thanks ![]() ![]() ![]()

Yep, It is a pedometer. If you shake it back and forth does it click? I see one on Ebay for $8.50.

Yep, you're both right. Got the back off, and there's a counter weight to activate it. I'm assuming the feet meter on the back is to measure your stride.
Neat little device. I apparently paid market rate for it, so no loss either way. Thanks for the quick and sound education.

That is actually really cool. I call that a good find, even if it is for using your feet and not the car. Nifty piece of history. And as a runner it is probably more accurate then the hundreds of dollar Garmins...

If you hold it very still whilst standing it'll give you a standing 1/4 mile time
![]() See if you can find the build date. Perhaps it's matching numbers?
