Bad headlight diagnosis?

The passenger side headlight on my SC is out. Though I'm going to H4s soon, I'd still like to see what's up. Thing is, the brights work while the normal light doesn't. Does the 7" US light have 2 separate bulbs, so that you can lose a filament or bulb for one but not the other, or does this indicate a wiring issue? I've located the fuse for the light and cleaned the contacts and replaced it, to no effect.

Emanuel,

USA seled beams have two separate filaments, and it is very common for the low beam to burn out, since they are getting most of the usage.

Warren, thanks, I'm glad to hear that. I wasn't looking forward to playing with the wiring.

I was shocked to find that my local AutoZone stocks the sealed beam units. It's a simple swap, takes about 10 minutes - unless the screws are rusted out. Mine were, but I took a blowtorch to 'em and out they came.

I was blown away to see how much better the new sealed beam was. H4s are even brighter? Jeez.

What's the wattage on the sealed beams? The H-4s I bought are 50/60s, as I don't really see the need for brighter. I'm annoyed at these Xenon/HID bulbs scorching my retinas as it is. I might buy a bulb to get me through the week, though - I hate having one out, it looks tacky on a Porsche.

Emanuel--
You might want to consider putting in relays to protect your stalk switches as per some of Warren's prior threads.

go here

Contact Marcus - he was recommended to me by Bob at Pelican Parts. VERY easy installation (and I'm no electrical engineer, by any stretch of the imagination.

No affiliation, just a satisfied customer.

You are a lifesaver. I was just trying to figure out how to add a relay and here is a complete kit at a reasonable price..
Thanks Dan
