Momo wheel question

I have a Momo wheel that I've been planning to put on my 911 for years(20 or so) but don't have the proper hub. The hub I have is is for a 280Z that I owned briefly back in the 70's. Now, to the question. If I buy a Momo hub for the 911, it comes without a horn ring. Will my existing horn ring in my Porsche wheel fit in the Momo hub? If not, what is the solution? I know someone must have done this swap. The parts guys I have talked with tell me to just buy their hub and get the horn ring from one of the recyclers. Any advice?

Thanks
Marshall

"The existing horn ring in my Porsche wheel"?

What do you mean? I thought most Porsche wheels had a horn pad of some variety? Do you already have an aftermarket wheel in the car?

You need the ring from a momo hub kit. If you but a 911 hub, you will , check that should get a hub ring.

I recently bought a wheel and hub, and did not get the ring, but luckily I found one at a dealer.

I'm not sure what you mean by horn ring either, but having just installed a Momo, here is what you do:

Buy a 911 hub kit. The Z-car hub won't fit. Should cost $40-$60. Best to buy new but you can get them on Ebay. Got mine new on Ebay.

The contact ring (with signal canceller) is not included with the hub but you can use the contact ring on the Stock Porsche wheel. It unscrews so you can relocate it on the Momo hub.

Before removing the stock wheel, make sure the steering is straight before removing hub so that you can get the new wheel on straight. Then bolt the hub kit on and attach the wheel.

The hard part is is finding a horn button with the Porsche Crest. I guess there was a copywrite issue that prevents Momo from selling the Porsche horn button. Again, I found one on Ebay for $60. Too expensive but I had to replace the Nissan horn button.

Thanks for the replies, everybody! Last time I had the steering wheel off was to replace that silly plastic bearing on the shaft and examining the horn contace was not part of the plan, so I have fogotten just what it looks like. I did buy a hub recently, and sent it back because it had no horn contact ring on the bottom. Apparently all I needed to do was remove the ring from the bottom of my wheel and install it on the Momo hub, right Doug? I'll start over and try again. Gotta make it work. The time has come.

I often wish I still had that 280Z. It was a ladies car, and my wife loved it. Don't see many of them anymore. The AC was always cold in West Texas and it never overheated. Of course, I also regret selling the 911T MFI I had at the same time.

Then there was that '49 Plymouth flat six ....

Thanks for the help guys. I get back on this, but it may be weeks.

Marshall, the horn ring on your existing (Porsche) wheel will attach to the new Momo hub. I know exactly what you're talking about.

Thanks, Mark. I'd have had this done weeks ago if I had asked the right people.
The whole thing started when I saw a listing weeks ago for a Porsche horn button for the Momo wheel, bought one, and still haven't gotten it on the car.
