powder coat gas tank

I've got a tank from a 73 911 that I'd like to paint the outside. I've read about POR-15, but am wondering if the swirl pot will stand up to temps used to bake powder coating (400 F)?

no- it will not work with getting powder coated if its a 73.5 T cis gas tank.

The earlier tanks can be coated, but make sure all openings are well closed with their block off tape. Otherwise you will "enjoy" lots of sand and powder debris inside !

That's whatt I thought - thanks for the confirmation. This is a 73.5 T tank with the plastic swirl pot.
