Weltmeister Rear Spring plate bushings
I have some questions about Weltmeister rear spring plate bushings.
I am trying to install these in a 1974 911. I have the factory adjustable spring plates from a 1985 911 that have had the rubber removed. From what I understand, there is supposed to be PB-004 outer bushings and PB-003 inner bushings. Now, for the tricky part. All of the bushings I have (I now have (10)). Have the same number cast into them PB-004. Half of these came in packaging calling them PB-003, but alas, they are all PB-004. This latest try, I asked them to check the actual bushings before shipping, but they arrived today in the same packaging stating that they are PB-003, but they are PB-004. Anyone else run into this before?

I wouldnt even use them if they are those hard plastic ones. Do yourself a favor and get Chucks (Elephant Racing) rubber ones, or better yet, his poly bronze. Plastic ones are junk in my opinion, I have alway had trouble from them.

John,
Like Don mentions, install peace of mind ! ER's hard rubber bushings will last you at least another ten worry free years.Should you ever have issues with the plastic ones it will mean doing the install all over again ... not fun ! For some reason i installed polyurethane (plastic) sway bar bushings over the Winter and now my suspension creaks all over when it's cold ... going to go back to rubber pretty soon ![]() Cheers ! Phil

If it were my car, I would have simply bought the Weltmeister adjustable spring plates that come with the right plastic bushings like I did 10+ years ago on my Turbo. As it is, this is a car that my dad is "building". I get the joy of putting it all together with parts that he provides to me.
I have warned against the squeaks and creaks, but so far, on this topic, it hasn't gone too far. the rest of the car is coming out nicely. In any event, I still have the question. Do the plastic bushings Weltmeister PB-003 actually exist? All of the ones I have say Weltmeister-004 and they are a LOOSE fit on the spring plates.

+1 (or is that -1) for what was said above, those things (if they are the polygraphite) are junk, I own them right now...the squeak and thats OK for a car that sees a lot of track, but sucks for any street use

After all the investigation, there seems to be a bunch of misinformation about the Weltmeister bushings on this site, on the internet and on the Weltmeister web site itself.
Apparently, there is no such bushing as a PB003. The inners and outers are BOTH 004 bushings. After ordering several sets from our host and one set from another vendor and contacting Weltmeister directly, It was concluded to go with the Elephant Racing Polybronze bushings for the spring plates. Much better quality parts to boot. Now, to return all the 004 bushings in 003 packaging........
