Two Questions

I have an 82 SC. Behind the rear view mirror and coming through the roof liner I have a wire with what looks like connector for a satellite radio. It was their when I bought the car and the P/A had no idea what it was for. I traced it down to the rotary temp selector between the seats. Any idea,s what it was for?
Any suggestions on how and where to mount a radar detector. I would rather not have wires running every where.
I have been lurking here for more than a year and hope to be able to post a few pictures shortly. The people on this site remind me of the type of people I associate with the BMW air head guy,s. Good people with lot,s of great info. Thanks, Tom

1. is your interior cab temp sensor

2. mount the radar detector at the center console under the ac controls, route the front sensor to the front bumper and the rear sense to the top of the rear wind shield.

Just the pig tail is hanging their. It is not attached to any thing?
That sounds great for the radar but I checked with Valentine and they do not have a remote antenna.

Well there was a part there once 911-659-105-01, check the PAG pdf file for your year.

As far as antenna, you are correct no antenna but wired sensors front and back unless the sensors are on the device then you need to mount it on top of the dash or visor.

I mounted my valentine below the mirror. I ran a wire from the mirror under the wind shield rubber to the bottom passengers side of the window. There is a hole for the windshield antenna that i used to get to the trunk and then to the fuse panel. I do not know if the 82's had that hole.

Luck

This is mine. I don't know if your car has the dash speaker grill. I have the grill but no speaker underneath which made it very easy for routing the hard wiring for my radar detector.

Thank you so much. I found the part and I was missing the Sensor itself for some reason. I will continue my search for a way to mount the detector. Thanks, Tom

Draco is correct. The sensor is for the auto heat system.

For what it's worth... Here's what I'm doing while I am redoing the interior and have the headliner out of the car. Replaced the rearview mirror with a Gentex auto dimming model. BlendMount connector mounts radar just below the mirror. Ran a cat3 wire inside the ceiling along top edge above the windshield and down the A-pillar, then through the trunk and back into the passenger compartment up under the dash. The cat3 is basically an extension. A female/female coupler will let me connect the SmartCord for my Escort Redline under the dash.

I'm waiting to see if Escort comes out with the rumored SmartCord for fixed installs. If they do, then I'll use that. If not, I plan on adding a second cig lighter adapter under the dash and just plugging the SmartCord into that.
