Well I went to my first PCA club autocross this weekend out in Albuquerque. What a blast! There were over 30 cars for the turnout, they competed for their cars class times in the morning runs and then just for personal improvement times later in the afternoon. I got my application for the PCA while there, and talked to lots of guys who run regularly all around the area. Unfortunately my 911 was missing on one cylinder badly just before I left to run out there, so I had to take my truck and just watch, but a really cool gentleman with a well prepped 914 let me sit passenger for a few runs. This was the first autocross track that I had seen with 3 dimensions to it, which was great, most are in parking lots, but this was done at a local paved racetrack that often gets big names in the sprint and lower Nascar circuts. Having a couple hills and burms made it so much better and more challenging.
Thanks to Jim Sims for alerting me to the event. Hopefully I'll have my car in running shape for the next time around, but my wheels and tires just aren't up to par for it right now. I 've got the tiny chrome metal wheels from the early years that are only 4 1/2 inches wide, and poor tires too. One of the guys at the rally said I should check out a set of older Fuch's he has for sale. Anyway, the weather could not have been better and everyone did great out there. Can't wait until the next one!
