Hello,
I will be in Donauwoerth, north of Augsburg. The transmission is being rebuilt next week so when I arrive it will be ready for install. Thanks for the offer. Greatly appreciated. best regards marlin |
well, I discovered that the transmission rebuilder from California (Porsche shop) mixed up two of the spacers (washer and thrust washer) and put them on wrong. He reversed the washers on the shaft which wore the bearing and eventually allowing the entire 5th rod to move back and forth after a while. Ruined a big bearing completely, caused damage to several other bearings, but fortunately no damage to the case or gears. Ultimately it cost about $700 in parts and 900 Euro in labor. Have contacted the builder several times but I am being ignored. Not sure what to do next. Clearly error on the part of the shop.
I bought the transmission as newly rebuilt with only 2000 miles on it from a car that had been hit up front. After the rebuild in Germany, got through the German TUV inspection, got it registered and it is now a Classic 30 year licenced car in Bavaria. thanks |
