17" rota Fox Rims = 17 week wait for delivery

First off, I love the wheels. The finish is beautiful and I can't wait to mount the tires.

My advice: If you want 17" Fuch knock-offs at a fair price ( $1200. shipping included.)
there is no other option. I saved a few hundred dollars buying the center caps from Parts heaven ( $40 ) and painted them myself. Krylon gloss black + clear enamel top coat.

However when I placed the order I never imagined my car would be on Jack stands
for 17 weeks. I sold my 16" BBS wheels in order to buy the Rotas. Unfortunately it's winter here in the east coast now. So I'm going to have to wait untill spring to drive.

Initially they said six to eight weeks. Then they were just saying "we'll call you when they come in". No regrets just adjust your expectation accordingly.

Yeah, it always is a let down when winter rolls in before something is done. The wheels look great though!

A few years ago, I was doing an H2O pump on my 924, and had to wait 2 months for the little hose that goes from the pump to the thermostat. This created a similar situation to yours, as it was too late to drive the car when I put everything back together. It's worth the wait when you get to take it out for the first time in the spring, however

And they were hesitant to bring them to market for such a small niche group. Looks like demand/supply has held up well for their side.

We are a small but hungry group of car owners that for reasons known only to us, are willing to spend way more than our cars are actually worth on them. LOL

Very nice look and I'm sure as the snow melts.....every bit worth the wait.

Well, the Rotas are gorgeous wheels, especially for the price.

I wish they offered a 17X11 for us widebody guys who find the Zuffenhaus wheels a little too pricey and with an even longer wait time. That is an even smaller niche market, so I doubt that will happen.

Well I got the wheels in a week (last satin set in stock this past summer from wheeldude) but the damn tires took 16 weeks (255/40 Hankook Ventus RS3 went out of stock and had to wait for production).

Are you sure it wasn't sixty eight weeks ? I have set on the 85, and I am pretty sure you are going to love them.

Since tires haven't been mounted yet, I would check the runout on each wheel.

Mine took about 8 weeks to come in. They were well worth the wait though, as there is no real comparable option in regards to price.

Is the weight of the 17" a lot more than the forged 16" Fuchs original wheels?

I've tracked these wheels with Hoosier slicks (245F 275R) and they have held up fine. They may not be forged, but they seem overbuilt. They weigh a little less than later Cup wheels, but more than factory Fuchs.

Still doing long term testing, but so far, no worries at all.

Weight of Roto 17's vs 16" BBS

Tom,
Did you happen to weight your BBS wheels before selling them? What were the widths of your BBS? They look to be a type RS? Curious as to the weight difference between them and the 17 Roto's.
Thanks
John

That's good to hear. Does the 245/275 combo fit under SC flares or something wider? Mine are stock now, but will soon be lip rolled.

Weight?

John,

I can't quote the source but I believe each rim weighs 1 to 2 pounds more than the BBS rims. Not sure on the rubber.

I'm not that concerned about the subtle weight difference since I really like the stance.

Looking to order an RSR set, who did you order from? My car is going in for paint soon so I can wait. Question is: will they fit over Big Reds?

In the big Rota thread, I think the question is asked and addressed. I read the whole thing already, but don't remember the answer to that question.

OBTW, as reference, Automotion apparently has 17x7, 17x8 and 17x9 Euromeister replicas in stock (according to the website) for $150, $210, and $210 each, respectively).

If Wayne could get them, I'd rather buy them from PP (big hint to Wayne).
