Unhappy Porsche Down

Hello Pelicantes,
Driving home this weekend in my '74 911 I was going about 3500 rpms in 5th gear. Out of nowhere the car began to "choke" and completely lost power . I made it to the shoulder of the freeway where I immediately turned the car off. When I attempted to restart the car it would choke before reaching 1000 rpms and would choke until it turned off. There was no smoke and no dripping oil as far as I could see. The car does not have its original engine but has a bored out 3.0 without DME. Just wondering as to what it could be as my mechanic is out on vacation until next week. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Panos

Find out if it's fuel or if it's spark.

Thanks and will do. Put in about $40 worth of premium and only made it about 10 miles from there.

It could be something as simple as dirt on the points. Which ignition and fuel system does your 3.0 have?

The Last Thing You Did.

It is always the last thing you did. I believe you may have put bad gas in your tank or filled up with diesel? This sounds exactly like a clogged gas filter or additional muck, either particulate or liquid.

The car runs on CIS. I specifically remember mentioning to the clerk to put in premium. Could he have possibly selected regular for me even if I clicked the Premium button at the pump?

Oh Dear God you are not allowed to vend your own gas? Then you have no idea when has gone into that car. Do you have the receipt? Does it state what the price per gallon is? Does that match Premium, or Diesel?

EDIT: Ah, I think you go in, buy gas, then fill up? Regular vs Premium is not going to cause this problem so I would not worry about that.

Yeah, I paid with cash because I recently had my wallet stolen! Do not remember if I held on to the receipt or not. I went in asked for premium twice and then went back out to my car. There was no diesel option at the pump I was on.

Wow that wouldn't be good. I'll have my mechanic check.
