911 T / 1973 with carbs

Hi all ,

I've got a question : a friend bought a 911 /2.4 T 1973 from usa ,

The original engine has been converted to carbs ,

But the ignitor has a vacuum way out not connected ,

Must i find a vacuum line to connect ???

Or drilling one in the intake , but where ??

I precise the car runs but with some small detonations sometimes , and a bad idle , too low.

Any input will be appreciated very much , help needed please ,

Thanks for the help ,

Ced'

Bonjour!
does the car run well as is? or not?
if yes, dont bother and plug it.
and if not, I wouldnt say its the reason for bad idle, as this vac line is for rev-/ignition adjustment for the former bosch k-jet system, these us cars got back in the days.

am I right?

My '73 2.4 was converted to Webers by PMO back in the late seventies. They simply plugged the vacuum port and my tech agrees it's not necessary, since it was injection related.

Car runs just fine without it.

Ok mates , yes Flojo , i understand clearly that i've just to plug the ignitor vaccum port .

The car runs great , low idle , but i think it needs some new parts ,

I'm going to listen your advices , and rejuvenating totally the ignition , adjusting it , and i'll inform you of the results.

Sincerely thanks you mates , fantastic.

THE PORT and diaphragm are for USA emissions retard and shyould stay disconnected.

Keep it disconnected. Make sure the timing is properly adjusted. You want 25-30 degrees of advance above 3000 RPM. With the vacuum advance disconnected you might have to set the idle to 5 degrees of advance as the distributor will probably give you 25 degrees.

By the way we can the ignitor the distributor. Not sure what it is in French.
