Alloy/Aluminium Accessories...

Hi all,

I'm curious, have any of you installed those funky alloy gauge bezels and alloy electric window control surrounds?

How do these fit? Are they a good, tight fit? Do they simply clip on or do they just glue in place?

Also, have any of you upgraded your old'ish rubber pedal set to the newer looking 993 drilled aluminium set? Do these require drilling to fit or do you simply take off your existing rubber pedals and screw the new ones in place in the factory screw locations?

Swervin' Mervin,

The only alloy I want to see in your car are roll hoops before you hit the track.

See you on the road,

Vic,

Too late! They've already arrived

I actually ordered these months ago, but ImagineAuto had to wait on some components.

Now that they're here, I wanna fit them

Merv,
I "upgraded" to the newer billet aluminum pedals a few months ago. The gas peal is a direct two screw replacement job. The other pedals require the drilling of two holes per pedal after removal of the rubber pad. The new aluminum bolts right on top - the only additional item you'd need is a good drill bit.
Cheers,

Merv

I drilled thru the metal pedal and then put the rubber pedal on and poked a hole thru it and mounted the billet aluminum over the rubber. I did it with and without and liked the feel and look of it with the rubber.

I also stuck the gas pedal on the shelf and purchased the heel and toe pedal from Wings Engineering and an aluminum dead pedal. I love the look. I will take a picture if you want to see.

BTW

RUF pedals were my favorite, but at $299 for the pedlas and $199 for the dead pedal, I tossed that idea.

Wings was $115
Billet were $89 (I think I got them from better bodies)
Dead was about $50 from AJUSA

Thanks for the reply guys. I'd appreciate some pics if you don't mind.

I might do mine on the weekend

The Alloy Gauge Bezels are best left to the workshop to do. I think I'd screw up the crimping

Firstly, I already bought the stuff from ImagineAuto.

Secondly, I wouldn't touch BBM stuff. I ordered a 930S Centre Console and what I got was absolute *****...

I was considering that 930 console. Is it that bad? I had read somewhere that the fit was terrible. They had a deal on the straight gas pedal and clutch and brake for $89 that I bought. I knew I had the gas pedal from Wings and was not going to use the other pedal. No one would sell just the clutch and brake.

http://members.rennlist.com/type930/interior.htm

Go to that link. He just posted it the other day and I like how his 930 console looks. However, he has a 930 and I have a 911, hence my looking at buying the better bodies one.

Does anyone else make that console? Or can you get a used one from an old 930?

WydRyd,
Congrats and well done on your project. That looks to be a phenomenal weapon. Here's a shot of my aluminum pedals and floorboard. I like the look, especially on the early 911s. Its even more sinister on the early cars. Enjoy your ride....

Thanks guys for taking the time to reply and thanks Rick for the kind words.

I can't wait to do my pedals, bezels, electric window control surrounds and 'turbo' side sills now.

Will do it sometime this weekend, IF I can find the time

PDACPA, yup, it's THAT bad. I really don't know how this thing is going to fit to be honest, but I'll give it a try later on when I have it upholstered in black leather. Not on my priority list at the moment...
