Not 911 related but Porsche related question

I acquired a pair of these umbrellas and have no info on them. They appear to be for watching golf or some other event to provide a chair to sit on or use as an umbrella to shade the sun or rain. Have any of you seen these before? I was told they were given to employees only but who knows if that is true.

No, I found them at a local consignment store. Thanks for the link.

Nice find! I have one that I got on eBay a few years back. They are a popular collectible. There's a massive thread over on Early S titled "Porsche Automobilia" started by Milou. Here's a snippet that he posted there about the umbrellas...

Anything left (unsold) form the Milou collection ?

equality72521 05-16-2012 06:41 AM

I sent a pm to Milou asking for details. Waiting to hear back.

There are very few unsold items. What remains is mostly some literature. If you view the online catalog, they show the final sale price for each item and, for the unsold items, what the asking price is...

His was item 3052, They are different. Mine have the pivoting base, not the fixed base. Same page though.

The umbrellas were commissioned in England by the Porsche factory (from a company called Paragon S. Fox). It was an accessory available to customers in the Sixties (it's just the correct size to be stored behind the back seats of a 911). You can see these umbrellas in the Dealerships Advertising Accessories/Gifts brochures from the Sixties.

Ferry Porsche used one to accompany him to race circuits around the world. There is a photograph in a Chistophorus magazine from the late Sixties, where you can see Ferry outside the Porsche stand at Sebring (I'm not certain of the circuit), seated on one of those burgundy umbrellas.

I wish I could find the exact reference, but I sold all my Christophorus last weekend!

I tried to research which umbrella came first (the fixed base or the swivel base) to date them more precisely, but to no avail.

I hope this information helps!

PS: A great fine...these umbrellas are at least 40 years old, and very rare in such great condition!

I'm thinking about selling them. Do you know about what they are worth?

Icemaster 05-16-2012 11:45 AM

Let me know if you do...

I ended up with these, great seller, they are better than they look in the pictures.

If anyone happens to know which Christo Milou was referencing I'd love to know. I remember the picture and likely have the magazine, but I'm not sure where to start. Thank you.

I sold mine last year at the LA swap meet for $300...
