Shifting problems...
 

I'm having a bit of a problem getting the shift linkage properly adjusted on my 911 - either I can access 1 trhu 4 fine, and have problems with 5 and reverse, or after adjustment I access 2 trhu reverse equally fine, and have problems with 1 and 2.

I'm familiar with the adjustment procedures, however there is one part I'm unsure of how it should be positioned, and I worry that placing it wrong may affect shift accuracy.

The uncertainty is regarding part #43
- is it supposed to attach **diretcly** to the bottom of part #1, or is supposed to be positioned inside the "tunnel" with the bolts reaching through the holes to access it?
I have tried both ways - attaching it directly to #1 makes the cup (#45) sit tighter in the #46, but shifting is (litteraly) harder.
Attaching it below, inside the tunnel, makes the cup sit looser into #46, but shifting is generally easier - but still not good enough.

Also - how much of a difference does a new #44 bushing make? This is the only part I have not replaced, and it seems to be a bit on the loose side - how much does it affect shifting accuracy?

Would appreciate some expert advise from you guys!

Regarding #43, going from memory it seems that the order from top to bottom is #1, #43, tunnel with threaded faster welded into place on tunnel. Repacing the bushing #43 will take some slop out of shifting.

I suspect that your shifting problems are more of adjustment at the shift coupling rather than anything to do with the above bushings. Reread and follow the article on shifter linkage adjustment
