distributor repair
Need a tip here ?
Cleaning up an extra 911S distributor and upon disassembly - I found that the thin plastic sliding surface for the advance weights is broken in 10 pieces. I doubt this part is available. How necessary is this ? what have any of you done?

I went down to the local Ace hardware and picked up a new washer for $0.04 each. They may not be exactly the same size but they are so close you can't tell and everything operates smoothly.

Stoddard's has a Teflon replacement for the original wafer-thin bakelite piece for 356 distributors, and it is very close to the required 6-cylinder part's dimensions, but my require some trimming to fit.

I had the same problem with my 76s. I used some heat shrink tubing on the small shafts to compensate for the missing teflon parts that just fell apart. Worked great And drive it every day.

Another source for these washer/sleeves is from the electronics industry.
We use parts like this to insulate transistors from the hold-down screw. The parts are available in many sizes and look like a washer with a sleeve running down from the hole. They are shaped like a "T" when looking from the side. Bob
