Clunk clunk fixed!

Thanks once again guys for the best auto repair forum I have ever used. Had a bad clunking noise coming from my drivers side front wheel. After researching on Pelican, I found the gland nut very loose. I was about to replace the bearings and strut assembly all at once, now shes back on the road at no cost to me.
BEERS ARE ON ME!!

Mine is doing this - What is the gland nut - is it easy to get a photo of??

Thanks so much. I already replaced the bearings....a waste of time and money!!! Still clunks.

Ok, I'll jump on the band wagon too...mine is doing this as well. But my gland nut is tight so I'm not sure what is up. What is the tell tale signs of a worn strut spindle?

have someone push the brakes while you agressively shake the wheel. This will illiminate the bearing. The gland nut is inside the top part of the strut. You will need to remove the top bolts of the strut, then swing it down and clear of the wheelwell. Pull off the top half of the strut to expose the gland nut. You can tighten it with a screwdriver and hammer.

found these pictures online of several gland nuts. I wish I had taken a picture of mine thought. Hope this helps.

That does help!!!! Thanks. Look like a med fix - not a quick fix. Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

Took me about an hour to fix it

Thanks...

This may be my problem as well. It seems to occur in a low speed turn - usually over some sort of a bump (160k+ mile SC).

Maybe this will get me by until I source all the parts for a full suspension rebuild...
