Need advice for rechroming

I just spent the weekend working as the medic at the car show. Yes, I got paid to go to a car show! I was asked at the show about good re-chromers. Thought I would ask here if anyone has a suggestion.

"Hey Doc, I'm having trouble breathing and I have a pain in my left arm, do you know any good re-chromers?" :D

Find some sources for info in your general area like hot rod clubs, PCS, etc. It's always better to deal with those kinds of businesses first hand. You might also find out about some good machine shops, although you can always send things to places like EBS Racing, Ollies, etc.

Unfortunately there are no local sources, which is why I posted this question.

I had two center caps rechromed by Chrome Pros Plating. I am satisfied with the work.

Thanks megerian.

I was surprised, there was only one Porsche at the show, a 912 in semi-rough shape. Some very nice cars tho, including a 56 Bel-Air I awarded the EMS prize to. A rather nice pair of 61 vettes in racing livery (numbered 66 and 99) both owned by the same guy. A few rare ones too, like a 39 topless beautifully redone; and a semi from 1946 with 700 miles on it (was an island fire truck tender). A good weekend to work.

I worked in a plating shop through my high school years. With all of the EPA regulations chrome shops in NY are becoming a thing of the past and when you do find someone willing to do it you pay a fortune. So if you need something chromed you have to be willing to ship it away and wait months to get it back. I just had a bracket for the exhaust on my motorcycle chromed it was about 6" long and 4" wide I had to send it away and waited 2 weeks it cost me $100. There is an episode of My Classic Car where they visit Jay Leno's garage. He has a liquid that you dip a part in and it dries into a beautiful chrome. He said it is enviormentaly friendly but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Since my Classic Car is pretty much an ad for Eastwood products, I'd start looking there. Did they show that Olds Toronado with the jet engine again?

EPA has made it difficult these days.....

Thanks all. This is not for me, it is for a guy I met with a 66 El Camino that they over-pressured on the buffing wheel and all his bed chrome is wavy.
