915 Inspection

Hello!

I want to install a 915 tranny into my 72 while I rebuild the current tranny. But I know nothing about the 'new' tranny. While it's on the bench, is there a way to get an idea of the condition without tearing the whole thing apart? It's just going to be temporary until the original gets repaired.

Thanks!
BK

I think you can remove the plate on the bottom an d take a peek inside. You can also peek inside from the fill plug. It's been a while since I've looked inside one, so I can't remember what it looks like.

there's no way to tell by looking inside, unless everything's blue from no oil, or if there's chunks.
