Trying to ID 911 Sc Euro vs US

Hi guys,

For those who have not seen my earlier post, I just purchased a 80' 911 sc. Im 27 years old and live in Nassau the Bahamas.
I pulled the vin on the 1980 911sc im working on, and im trying to Id whether its a us or euro model the # is 91a013084. from what i gather this is the euro model. Does this make it any more valuable?

thanks

Adam

Adam -

Looks like your partial VIN isn't consistent with a US model (US '80 911a were 91 AO 14...) See Simon's Porsche 911 SC Site for more detailed VIN info.

Some other ways to tell yours isn't a US model are: two amber lenses in the front bumper vs. four; red/amber rear tail light lenses vs. red/red; narrow rubber rear bumper guards; speedo doesn't have dual markings (MPH and KPH inside white circle).

Non US spec models have slightly more power (188 bhp and 9.8:1 compression ratio vs. 180 and 9.3:1) and are usually weigh less due to option specs.

According to the Vin number, yours is a non-US spec model. I don't think it will be more valuable than a US spec model of similar condition.

Was it imported to the US at any point? If it was, there's a chance that many of the options added to US cars for crash safety were added, mitigating any weight advantage to owning a ROW car. My '79 ROW car had the crush tubes changed out for US ones and had the indicator lights changed in favor for US ones when it was federalized, so it was minimal.

Yours, being a non-US, '80 model will have a slightly hotter version of the 3.0L engine from '80. It doesn't have 9.8:1 compression, but it does have 188 hp vs. the US model's 180 hp.

Another Porsche SC newbie VIN question with regard to euro vs US spec. The owner indicated my 78 is a euro. The following are the 1st 6 numbers of the VIN 911831. Can you help?
