Without much ado, we officially announce the Pelican Parts Swapmeet in May! We were originally planning to hold this event at our headquarters at the end of last year.
However, the San Diego Region approached us with their Festival of Speed, and suggested that we combine the two events together. So, the Festival of Speed and Pelican Parts Swapmeet are combined at the famous California Speedway in Fontana! Destined to be one of the larger swapmeets of the SoCal area, we've mapped out a huge gathering space for all the vendors. The cost per vendor is $20, buyers get in free. We would normally continue our tradition of free to all sellers and free to all buyers, but we need to help the San Diego region pay for the track. The swapmeet will be inside the track, and will be going on while driver's ed events and races are happening on the outside. If you've never been to California Speedway, then now is the time, as you will get special access to the inside of the stadium. It's going to be fun, we hope to see everyone there. Tom and I will be there. Bruce Anderson will be holding tech sessions and seminars, and there will be a show and concours as well! Reply to this post if you have any questions!!! We're also thinking of gathering all the Pelican BBS folk up for lunch / barbeque afterwards... -Wayne More Info: http://www.pcasdr.org/clubrace/clubrace.html

I'm going to be there for sure. Hay Wayne, does Pelican sell dark brown dashes and headliners? The price for the black ones is reasonable, I hope you can get the brown ones.
Asl, is it true that they are charging admission to hear Bruce Anderson speak? |

Yes, we can order the brown dashes for you - they might take about three weeks to come in.
I'm not sure about charging for Bruce Anderson. I think that the San Diego Region might be having a difficult time raising all of the money needed for this weekend (well over $100K), so it wouldn't terribly surprise me. If you think that this (hopefully) yearly event is a good idea, then come out and support it. I can tell you that if not enough people come, it will be the first and last one... -Wayne

Thanks Wayne, I am going to call right now and order the dash.
As far as charging for the tech seminars, no biggie. it will be worth it to have BA sign my performance handbook! |

It looks like the actual Swap Meet happens on Saturday the 18th, starting at 8am.
Maybe I can fly out. But how would I get all the parts home? ![]()

With swapmeets like these, you have to plan on hitting up a Mailboxes Etc. on the way to the airport. They'll take care of everything for you...
This should be a VERY huge event. ![]() -Wayne

Just show up, there will be spaces a plenty! Each seller will be charged $20, and admission is free for buyers. We need to do this to help pay for the track (100% of funds go to the PCA region)...

Add'l Fest. of Spd news
Wayne,
I thought I'd chime in here wth some add'l Festival of Speed info. First of all, this should be a great weekend with something for everyone whether you like to participate, watch or just browse. Oh yes, you can also buy and sell. The Early 911S Registry and RGruppe are inviting members and early 911 owners to park in a special "Corral" area in the infield adjacent to the swap meet and car show areas - Saturday and Sunday. Like the swap meet fee for vendors, the corral parking pass ($10 ea. day) is a pass-through to the SDPCA region, and the parking passes/badges are only available prepaid; not available on that weekend (although other infield parking is available). There is additional information on the following page along with a downloadable form for the event: http://www.early911sregistry.org/Events1.html Thanks, Sherwood Lee for Early 911S Registry & RGruppe |
