cross ref with vw parts?

am wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to use some vw parts on a 911. Like fog lamp relays and brake master cylinder switches and so on...if so how do you cross reference?
thanks.

I don't know if there is a cross reference anywhere, but I replaced my M/C brake light switches with VW ones on Warren's (Early_S_Man) guidance. My Lamda system power relay is an Audi part, and was given to my by a Porsche dealer.

The the 3 pole brake light switches are the same as all VW Beetles used after 1966 USA Models

There's a lot of VW & Audi interchangability - mabe someone should make a list!

The gas tank and oil tank sender gaskets are interchangable with the VW bug gas tank sender.
My '77s gas cap was indentical to a Super Beetle cap, which is what I have now.

The charcoal cannister on the early 911s has a VW part #.

The seat belt and brake warning lights are the same as a super beetle on my '77.

Someone brought this topic up aboput a year ago, and I thought someone was working on a cross reference.

The only VW part I've used so far is the copper washer that goes between the fuel line, and the WUR. BUt that was only because I didn't want to wait for one to get to me from Pelican.

You sort of ... have to have had the parts in your hand and noticed the similarity before you can make the determination ... scrounging in junk yards helps a bit, too!

First VW part I found for a 911 is one you couldn't ever buy separately at Porsche dealers ... the spark plug air seals, and I still have the first dried-up one I ever replaced, simply because I have never seen another one exactly like it: the VW part number was molded in HUGE 1/4" tall numerals -- 111.905.449! VW doesn't even sell them now, as they were superceded by an 'A' suffix part that won't work on 911 valve covers! But, thankfully, the VW aftermarket suppliers import them by the millions from Mexico and Brazil, and they work great at anywhere from $0.25 to $1.98 each!
