lil help with paint problem and want to "toughen" my p car

I own a 76' that I was repainted probably by maaco or someone like that before I bought it.. the hood has a spot where I believe the shop did not let the filler fully cure before painting so it eventually bubbled and cracked.. it doesnt look bad but, not great.. however with enough humidity and sun/heat the dragons beneath try and show their-selves..

My thought is, since Im in no position for a restoration Id do some sort of "stripe" (after I repair the poor work).. which is really hard for me because Im one who doesnt like bling on my car but... what else can I do? I will NEVER match this color.. no idea what it is, cept that its cheap attempt at the original green.. I can do the paint myself though.. I've done a full resto with better results than some shops.. but wonder if I could get by with vinyl too...

pics:

and here is the location.. left side of tape is the edge of the bubble.. so when I go to repair it will probably come out further.. and the horizontal tape is the tear in the paint.. its covering the tear..

I found this picture in the forums.. but no idea what colors I could use.. maybe white with a close match to the green or something.. not sure..

then part B... this minty green has never sat well with me..(would be fine if it were ice green metallic) I would like to toughen up the look a little.. My first intuition is that the "problem" is the wheels.. they show too much tire sidewall.. if Im right, then Im stuck.. no budget for wheels.. but if anyone has an idea on how to toughen my car up Id appreciate it.. I also thought H4 head lights might help a bit.. those ice cream cone chrome deals are pretty wussie if you ask me.. that one would be possible if I found some used.. but seems like used ones go for about $50 less than new ones.. they are like gold..

Anyway.. here is a pic of it at its current ride height..

Oh the rear hood has the same issue but right in the middle.. argh... I seem to be able to not be bothered much with it though..

I guess I could keep filling it with clear coat as I have in the past and just not look at my hood.. or rear lid..

Are you absolutely sure this is not a Porsche color? It look familiar.

Some shops can mix paint based on a panel you provide them - e.g., gas cap lid.

The original color of my car is ice green metallic.. this is close but does not have the same metallic.. its more mint green.. close but no cigar..

I can see the real color under the hood, door jambs etc...

and unfortunately, all the rubber was taped up etc... crappy respray on the cheap.

this would be a tough mix I think.. but I may bring it in...

Edit: but no, Im not 100% certain..

I dont think Id like how the magnetic would be thick and show its edges.. assuming youd do just about any vinyl though...

We do make in vinyl as well. The Magnetic is pretty thin. 1/32 in thick. Surprisingly no one has noticed that the stripes are magnetic.

As Bob Kontak already stated that color can be matched by your automotive paint supplier.
If you provide them a sample Such as the gas door they will probably start out with the formula of the original paint for the car and tint to match. But if you go to a store/jobber who has a proprietary spectrophotometer camera they can take a pic of your Paint and it will pull the closest match from it's data base of thousands of colors and rate it's suggestions for match quality.Worst case scenario even if if was not a 100% you would still be better off as it's not like you have a show quality paint job to begin with and you can also eliminate all the other rock chip and imperfections and show the world what quality work you can do!

As far as toughening up the look, the window trim, if black anodized/painted satin black, would probably help balance out the high profile tires and the black bead on the rocker panel.

Looking at the car it is accented black on the bottom but not on top. Black window trim would pull the car lower to the ground visually.

How's this for tougher? I powder coated the wheels satin black on my Gaurds red '87 and they look amazing. Add a black vinyl tape stripe or two down the hood as well to cover the offending blemishes

That is indeed tougher and I will consider it.. thanks very much! Hmm You slammed it a bit too lol.. Not sure if my wheel/tire situation will allow it but I could certainly give it a shot.. as much as I do not like decals, that does make a difference doesnt it?

thanks again!

How about just replacing the hood with a naked CF one and do a thru the hood fill and Blau cap? Do CF on the engine lid to balance.

Rice o roni.. Sorry, just not my thing.. but thanks for the idea.

Im pretty keen on the sticker.. as much as I hate them.. it seems to work on my wussie car.. not sure how much that ducktail would cost though.. may have to try it without it.
