head exchangers question...

hi , i have a silly question ... may be..

i read a lot of threads where everybody writes the SSI head exchangers are great....

i have an 2.7L with already the classic head exchangers and an 2-1 B&B muffler... i am thinking on headers to improve the system...

now my question... a part of beeing in stainless steel is there a real difference between classic exchangers and the SSI's.

i saw a picture where you see that SSI's are already headers is that also true for the normal ones?

thanks
steve

may be i expressed myself badly...

i have normal heat exchangers.... i would like to put headers on the car 1 1/2 inches...
or if it makes a difference to the one i already have put SSI's on the car..

thanks

Your stock heat exchangers as well as SSI's ARE headers: they simply are wrapped in a shroud to heat the cabin. You can see this for yourself by peering down into the heat outlets to see the tubing. :) :)

The main (and very important) advantage to SSI's is the use of 304 stainless instead of mild steel to prevent corrosion and the entry of carbon monoxide into the cabin which is an extremely dangerous condition.

Headers will not make an appreciable difference in the current state of tune.

Thanks for the reply.... So if i wanna change i should go for headers... As that would at least change from the actual setup... I had a 2.0s with classic heat exchangers and with the headers i had the impression off more power from bottom on...

Thanks again
Steve
