Rear view mirror

I just installed a good used Sigla windshield from a newer 911 and it came with this bracket attachment for the interior mirror:

My old mirror was glued on, what's the easiest solution, remove the bracket (heat gun?) or do I need to buy a newer mirror? I don't want to risk breaking the glass.

Removing the button would be a risk for sure. I've never seen one removed without breaking the glass. I'd suggest a new/used late mirror if you're not concerned about originality.

buy the new mirror. thats what i did. there is a thread on all the people that have been frustrated glueing on replaments

+1

Also be advised that many 944 mirrors are a direct replacement for the SC/Carrera mirror w/the round 'foot' -- and usually less $$.

Good luck

Do replacement windshields come with a button for the rearview mirror or do you have to add them?

Thanks, sounds like a replacement mirror is the way to go then, used one is only $39 on eBay.

Can someone tell me if the mount on this mirror fits the button I have?

Yes, should fit. Unfortunate the angle of the pics makes it hard to see that the 'foot' is round; if you look at this similar item:

you'll see that it is.

Good luck

Thanks, tried my spare 993 mirror, that has a similar method of mounting with a bracket/clip but does not fit the earlier button.

Yeah, I tried that too. But as you found out there are plenty of spares for sale in good condition and most are reasonably priced. Heck, even a new one is in the $70-$90 range.
