911 MFI Bosch Fuel pump

Hello,

I have the following problem. In 1973 my RSR project, the fuel pump must be replaced. Now I have two original Bosch 0580970001 pumps which are but varying lengths. Can anyone tell me whether the short or long version is the correct one? Or is that short a fake?

best regards mario from switzerland

The short one's were used on the VW's and 914's as far as I know. The 0580970001 were all long and for the MFI cars. The short one you have most likely is a reproduction from ??? with the same part number stamped on it.

Well you might as well try it out. I would check the fuel delivery quantity and the fuel pump pressure after you install it. Pressure should be 0.9 to 1.1 atm. and the delivery should be 900 to 1000 cc in 30 seconds. The Porsche manual #1 and the MFI manual shows how to preform the tests.
