Steering Column Bushing Replacement

Where does the C-Clip (figure 3) go?
Is it supposed to be on the column neck or right at the end or flush with the bushing?

Steering Bushing...

Robert,

I'm not sure if I've got your question right, but the "C" clip can only go one place on the steering column. There's a groove just below the spline where the "C" clip has to go.

I hope you're using my MDS Nylon bushing, it's removable and doesn't rattle and will last as long as you do.

See Pelican Parts: No. PEL-ML-STR

Note that the "C" clip groove is just above the the Nylon bushing.

Yup, you got it. That c-clip stops the hub from moving further down the shaft when you tighten the nut that holds the wheel in place.

Robert, you want to be sure that the "C" clip is snug on the shaft, but it doesn't have to be tight. Just snug enough so as Smoove1010 says when you tighten the steering wheel it doesn't force the "C" clip out of the groove.

When you put the steering wheel back on just finger tight the 27mm nut and take the car for a quick spin to be sure that you have the right alignment on the spline. It's easy to be off one spline on the steering shaft.

I just bought your part to replace the old one.
Thanks

I just replaced mine as well, so easy and such a huge improvement

I installed Mitch's part last week and it just started having a slight scraping noise from the same place when turning... maybe I left some minor pieces of the old bushing in there? Does it need to "break in"?
