flares

I have a 1973 which I am going to convert to an RS. My question to you guys is what fender flares do I use.I have read there is SC flares , 8 inch flares , 16 inch flares . and all so where I get the extension for the bumper etc. to fit everything up. I see ads on Pelican parts for sale for various flares and I am confused.
Thanks for the information in advance

I just cut the rear flares off of a wrecked '87 Carrera, and cheated them out a bit farther than the factory to fit 275s.

I don't give a rip about originality, just wanted to be able to drive the car like an idiot.

you can use 1974/75 Carrera flares, RS flares, SC flares, Carrera 84-89 will all work for you. They are also known as 8" flares
Detail difference that you should keep away from the 87-89 flare as the torsion bar cut outs are not so good looking when left exposed (no outer rocker trim)

for the rear bumper extensions: The 1973 RS had the stock bumper ends modified to match the flare. do a search for 1973 RS images and you will see what that detail is about.
OR if you have a great metal guy, he can "marry" a pair of sectioned 911SC/ Carrera rear bumper extensions to your stock bumpers. But that takes talent and time

good luck with your project
