Question Replacing strut housing bearing and seal

Hi,
I went for an alignment following upgrading my suspension (new torsion bars, strut inserts, shocks, polybronze bushings and monoballs) and I have a bit of play at the top of my strut body.
I know there are "linear bearings" in there and parts can be obtained but is it a job that I can do? I would need to replace the top linear bearing and lip seal.
Had anybody done this? Do you have recommendations or instructions?
These are Bilstein housing with Bilstein inserts...
Thanks a lot!
David

I have replaced the lip seal before, very easy to do. I don't know how hard it is to remove and replace the inner bushings. To be honest my car has a coating of teflon tape on the top bushing. It's worked fine for many years on my race car.

linear bearings

Bilstien USA will do them for $100 a piece. That includes labor and bearings.

I believe that Clint at Rebel Racing will do it as well.

I did not attempt to do it myself. From what I gathered it would/could be more effort that it is worth if the bearing is seized in there.

If I recall correctly Clint was cheaper than Bilstien.

The contact at Bilstien USA is Jaun Alverez. PM if you want his info. They took care of mine and were good to deal with.

I am a bit hesitant to send them away as I don't want it to take too long...
Getting the parts in can be quick but shipping there and back from Canada can take long.
I was wondering if anybody had done it themselves.
Thanks a lot for the input!

Are you talking about the top where the shock/strut bolts to? If this is the case our host sells a 2 piece replacement bushing that is easy to install. Use a sharp knife and cut the old rubber bushing out. After you cut around the bushing, just push the pieces down and they will pop out. Look up part #91491400007 pel-rsrssusm here on this site.
Good luck,

No, the bushings inside the strut body that the shock insert rides on.

I could also use this info. I have the same problem with mine. I'd send them out, but I'm in Alaska, so that's a pretty expensive option.
