959 wiring

Hello all,

I am currently diagnosing a radio no sound issue from a 87 959 and in searches, I have found that some people here including wayne have access to 959 repair manuals. I would like to get access to a wiring diagram and any other useful information as well. Thanks in advance for any help. I also posted this in 911 engine rebuilding to try to reach wayne.
Thanks, Travis

This is just a shot in the dark but I would assume the radio wiring on the 959 is the same as that on a same year 911. I have never worked on a 959 so I would not know but it would make sense that they used the same or very similar parts for the stereo harness. Good Luck!

Regards
Dave

Thanks Dave. I have pursued this direction as well, but I work at a relatively new dealer that doesnt have the diagrams for anything pre 993. Pretty frustrating, but I will get it figured out. Thanks, Travis

Here's a link to someone selling a copy. The thread is a couple months old but might be worth a shot.

FS: Authentic Porsche Manuals 911, 356 and 959(!!!)

I was in the car yesterday thinking about this and realized you can figure out what is what by process of elimination. Pull the speakers out of the door and see what is connected to them that should tell you what wire colors are for the speakers. There should be a colored wire with a larger connector and a brown wire with a smaller connector. do the same for the rear speakers. If its a no sound issue I would get a known good head unit and wire it up in the car, if that does not work its either a wire or speaker issue. Pull the speaker one at a time and test them on a known head unit. Then you will know speaker or wire issue for sure. I'm kind of jealous you get to work on a 959!

Regards
Dave
