Boxster s brake upgrade on 911

OK, a few years ago I got a great deal on Boxster s calipers front and rear. So the other night I decided to install them on my 1987 911. I used the Stomski Racing 996 adapter. well everything bolted up great. I also bought the Rebel racing brake lines. I was told I could shave my hub to fit the boxster s rotor. Well that's not the case.... anyone ever do the Boxster S upgrade ...... I can use the stock rotors but only half the brake pad bites....The rotor would fit if it went back a little bit more.

Im no expert, but I was under the impression that the Boxster conversion used the first generation calipers not the S.

You have to buy the custom rotors/rotor hats to fit them properly

Do you know who makes them?

I know Rebel Racing sells the custom rotors .... I've just read that you can use the 996 rear rotors on the front, am I reading this right.....I will give that a shot and see what happens.

the 996/Boxster S caliper just fits with the 16 inch wheel... but you wont be able to get any wheel weights on the inside.

I have a set of Front Boxster calipers I ran on my 85 911 for several years when using for DE. used them with the stock Carerra 3.2 rotors.

just removed them as I am returning the 911 to stock and reinstalled the original calipers.

I have the calipers and mounting brackets/bolts. asking $400 for the kit.

I also have a set of cooling duct backing plates and several sets of lightly used pads, street, pagid orange, pagid yellow, and hawk blues that would be priced separately.

anyone interested?

996 front brakes on my 1987. Need to dig to find a photo of the hub used. Rotors are stock 996 but turned down a little bit to move the calipers close to the center. All under 16 in rim, even the spare Fuchs still fits

Ok..... so here it is... To do your big brake upgrade on your 911.... Boxster S/996 front calipers, Porsche 996 front rotors, adaptor from stomski racing, Porsche 944 hub must use 1983 to 1986. You must have the 944 hub machined so the 996 rotor will fit over the hub. Then you would need a 1 inch spacer, I bought mine from eBay. The 944 hub is 25mm shorter then the 911 hub. Your 16 inch wheel will not fit because the 944 hub pulls the wheel closer to the caliper. I just ordered 17 inch wheels from our host. I also used rebel racing brake line kit. I also had to cut the pins for the brake pads 2mmon the outer side.

FYI 1987 up 944 hubs would be perfect because you do not need to machine them. Reason you can not use them is the wheel bearing sizes are to big for 911 spindle.

Put these on my 914 track car. Wish my bias could be adjusted more to the rear. . .

What did you have to do on the 914 for them to work

My 914 already had turbo struts installed. There's an adapter kit available to mount the calipers and of course, change the rotors. I'll probably never have to replace the pads as it feels like the hand of God hitting you in the face every time you hit the brakes. Oh, already had a 23mm master cylinder; the car used to be a track car. . .

Is there a big differance between the standard boxster brake and the "S" on a 911.

From what I read the boxster front brakes are smaller then the boxster S. The boxster S is a 996 brake.. Also they say the Boxster brake is not much different then the 3.2 brakes..
