Leaky master cylinder (brakes)

Seems to have been leaking for a while, oil stain underneath the hood.

Filled up the oil level, doen't seem to go down fast..

any chance that this baby leaves me suddenly with no breaks ?

they usually give warning other then the oil leak ?

thanks

What year, what model?

If it is a leaking master cylinder it may be a tube fitting or on some cars there is a pressure switch (or switches) which I am not too familar with but are there to detect and warn of a failed circuit. There are two circuits in the brake hydraulic system so that if one fails you still have the other. I believe on Porsche one circuit is the front brake and the other the rears.

When you say "Filled up the oil level..." I assume you are talking about the brake leak problem and mean you filled the brake reservoir which I hope you used brake fluid and not oil to do?

yes, it can easily kill you

pull the floor mats out and look carefully under the car to see how much paint it has removed

good time to repl. the rubber brake hoses with new rubber

as per above, it is not oil

And I would think break fluid would take off the paint
