early factory race harness
can someone educate me on the restraint systems used in the early factory race cars or tell me what type of system is in the pic? sorry about the lousy pic.
i am looking for the brand, type and availability of systems that appeared in the R and RS. i'd like to install in a car with that period correct and factory race 911 theme (rs carpet and door panels, prototipo, non-reclining recaro, etc). tia, bob '68L |

Bob,
I haven't been able to find anything on this. All photos in my references show no belts. Maybe the factory left it up to the customer to provide the belts?? -- Curt |

The early racing 911s (at least in Europe) used harnesses from Sabelt, Autoflug, Repa or Britax (mostly Autoflug and Repa). The attachment point varied A LOT, depending on the presence of a follbar. I have seen some attached to the rear belts anchoring points, to the rear shelf, to the cage. The RS has threaded mounting holes on the rear shelf from the factory (a dead sure proof for a real RS).
