Ignition problems

Two cylinders are not firing. I replaced the spark pulgs and ignition leads. Whats the
deal?
Thanks Eric

Hmm the same two cylinders every time? Are they not firing at all? (i.e. if they never fire, the plugs will be wet and sort of clean from all the gas washing them off). If so, work your way backwards, swap the non firing plugs with ones from the firing cylinders, check your leads to make sure they're seated well, replace the distributor cap if it is old, check for play in your distributor shaft. Other sources of failure can be ground strap, CDI box, coil, etc but usually these are random misfires (not the same two).

If its the same two cylinders my first guess is that you have switched (reinstalled incorrectly) a couple of the plug wires at the distributor. Check your plug wires against the firing order and correct as required. Cheers, Jim

May guess is that the wires on the non firing plugs got swapped by mistake.

Eric,

Test the two non-firing wires for end-to-end continuity ... they should measure 3000 to 4000 Ohms.

Another rare possibility is defective, shorted spark plugs. I have seen new ones that were shorted!
